Hedwig’s World of TBR: Finishing 4 Series

So I made a little post earlier this year about series I was going to finish and catch up on by the end of this year. July has almost come and gone so I said I would check in. And I have not read a single one.

So to hold myself accountable and to actually be up to date on the bigger SFF series, I have created a mini TBR project that I am calling Hedwig’s world of TBR. I’m going to check in on this at least once a month to keep track. I have made a similar post over on my Instagram too with a hashtag to keep track of it as well. If you are lucky enough to not be drowning in books and need to ove piles of them to go to work or bed then I shall invest wisdom on you. A TBR is a ‘to be read’ pile, meaning books you mean to read. Mine is bad. She big.

My rules for this TBR will be as follows:

– To read at least one book from each of these 4 series at a time, most of them I have multiple editions.
-To not read any other books on my owned TBR until at least one series is completed on the list.
-I can only read outside the TBR if the book is either part of the Discworld Project, on my review list or NetGalley or it is a comic/graphic novel/manga series.

I think this leaves me a lot of wiggle room while also making sure that I am keeping track of this a bit better. And of course, you no doubt want to know the books on the TBR for this first round at least. Those highlighted in bold have been read and those with a * are going to be a reread. Again, I think this is a fair list and I already know how I will rotate it once I complete a series on it so the current list is:

  • The Wormwood Trilogy by Tade Thompson:
– The Rosewater Insurrection
– The Rosewater Redemption

  • The Shades of Magic Trilogy by V.E Schwab:

A Darker Shade of Magic*
– A  of Shadows
– A Conjuring of Light

  • The Earthsea Quartet by Ursula K. Le Guin:

A Wizard of Earthsea
– The Tombs of Atuan
– The Farthest Shore
– Tehanu

  • The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb:

Assassins Apprentice*
– Royal Assassin
– Assassins Quest

So this is the current list! Here’s hoping it works out like I plan. If I manage to keep this going I might make it a permanent slot on the blog to keep track of my owned TBR of series. Will you be tuning in to watch me have arguments with myself twice a month? Do you set yourself TBR’s? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks for tuning in guys, happy reading!

  1. I also need to finish Shades of magic trilogy and the Farseer Trilogy! Its just the last book of each I need to read but I am awful at actually finishing series. I just don’t like things ending so I never pick up the last book. I just re-read the others over and over.

    1. This exactly Fi! That and I start them being like I finally started this series and then, boom. 2 years have passed! Rude much?! I think Farseer is gonna be one of those with an ending I’ll cry over tbh

That is so true! I hate finishing a series, especially if it’s such a fascinating worldscape! I have this problem with Sci-Fi author Peter F Hamilton. Such amazing worlds he creates with each trilogy, then no more. There needs to be more Terry Pratchett style authors; setting multiple stories about diverse characters within the same fantasy world!

      1. That would be so wonderful. Inlove that about Discworld that you can pick any book up if you want and get started! Never read Peter F. Hamilton, must check him out!
